2021 summer school update

For 2021, the IPSA-USP Summer School has been adapting – like everyone else! – to offer a special online format that continues to give students new opportunities to learn and improve their research.

The Summer School took place from 22nd – 26th February 2021 as a series of targeted workshops to help students develop and refine their research projects.

Monday 22nd –       Comparative Historical Methods, Matthew Lange and Derek Beach 

Tuesday 23rd –       Comparative Research Design, Allyson Benton and Glauco Peres da Silva

Wednesday 24th – Causal Inference and Experiments, Florian Foos, Mark Pickup and Jonathan Phillips

Thursday 25th –     Surveys and Public Opinion, Bruno Cautrès and Laron Williams

Friday 26th –           Time-Series and Panel data, Guy Whitten, Andrew Philips, and Lorena Barberia

2021 Online Format

This year, to maximize the opportunities for learning, the Summer School will offer workshops on key methodologies.

All sessions will be conducted online on Zoom in English.

 

Morning Sessions (11.00-13.00 São Paulo time): Faculty will provide an applied overview of the research topic, with key concepts, methodologies and practical tips to apply in your research.

 

Afternoon Sessions (14.30-16.00 São Paulo time): Faculty will discuss participating students’ research papers from the same methodological area, highlighting how conceptual and theoretical issues can be applied to the specific paper, and providing feedback and suggestions to help improve students’ work. 

Open Roundtable Webinars (17.30 São Paulo time, on selected days to be confirmed):

In addition to the closed workshops, we will also be hosting broader roundtable discussions online which will be broadcast live online to all.
