Fundamentals of Regression Analysis

Course Description

This intensive course builds the foundations required for the quantitative-methods tracks. It reviews the logic of regression analysis, the relationship between population and sample models, interpretation of coefficients, statistical inference, and the assumptions behind ordinary least squares, culminating in an introduction to multiple regression.
Lectures are complemented by hands-on exercises using software commonly employed in quantitative social science. This course is shared by the Multi-Methods Research and Quantitative Methods for Public Policy Analysis tracks.

what we will learn

PREREQUISITES

Basic arithmetic and algebra, together with introductory statistics, including probability, confidence intervals, and hypothesis testing. No prior training in multiple regression is required.
