For the 2020 Summer School we have recruited a fresh new team of faculty members to offer a series of innovative new courses. The courses represent emerging skills that are vital to the professional success of young researchers and are structured to build coherent Tracks that allow you to accumulate your learning across the three courses and weeks of the Summer School.

  1. Professor Matthew Lange, Chair of the Department of Sociology at McGill University, Canada, will offer a new course on Comparative Historical Analysis as an introductory course in the track on Comparative Historical Analyses.
  2. Professor Florian Foos, of the Department of Government in the London School of Economics, will offer a new course on Causal Inference and Field Experiments as an introductory course in the Causal Inference and Experiments track.
  3. Professor Edward Schatz of the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto will offer a new course on Ethnography and Comparative Qualitative Methods in the track on Comparative Research with Interviews and Ethnography.
  4. Professor Laron Williams of the University of Missouri has previously taught classes in the Summer School on spatial dependence, and this year will offer a new course on Comparative Survey Analyses in the track on Modeling and Analyzing Public Opinion.
